Sometimes, there are some real perks for being a teacher — Teacher Discounts.  We get discounts at Barnes and Noble, J. Crew, Apple, Madewell, Banana Republic and at LOFT.  Most of the time the discount varies from 5% to 15%, which is just enough to make me feel special.

This week, LOFT is offering a bonus discount, an extra 25% off for teachers.  Even more exciting, LOFT contacted me to say that they have a $100 gift card to give away to one of my readers!  I’ve never had a company email me before with stuff like this, so it’s pretty exciting to know that this little blog o’ mine is getting some traction.   This giveaway is open to US readers only.  To enter, just leave a comment below.  Keep in mind that the email address you use to post the comment will be the address I use to contact you if the randomizer picks you.  Once I get your info (and thank you for reading my blog) I’ll forward your deets to LOFT. I’ll leave it open ’til Friday night.

  1. Just started reading your blog this past August. Enjoying the fashion, kibitzing, and teacher encouragement. Love your science t-shirts! – a Cali middle school life science teacher

  2. Started reading because I am a teacher-in-training and I had no idea how to dress for thirteen-year-olds. My idea of work professional is a black t-shirt and baggy cargo khakis. So kinda needed some help so I wouldn’t feel so much like a new teacher (fall 2015, middle schoolers!).

  3. I’m in teacher training but needed a little teacher-wardrobe-training too. My professional life thus far has been black or navy tees and khaki pants — not what I want to impress on poor middle schoolers. Your fashion has been a gem, because it’s not too high (and out of reach) for me, and still has the down-to-earth quality I prefer. Thank you for everything you do!

  4. Hmm… the drawback of subbing is that I don’t have a valid teacher ID to take advantage of those discounts, though I certainly made good use of the Barnes & Noble discount in the years I did teach! However, subbing still requires a teaching wardrobe, and mine is in desperate need of an update. I could still make use of a gift card, despite not being eligible for the extra 25% off. And that’s so fun that they contacted you!

  7. I was thrilled to find your blog! I am a recent reader and an 11th grade, special education English teacher. I am always looking for new inspiration to liven up my wardrobe. I feel a sense of duty, especially to my female students, when it comes to dressing with class and an awareness of contemporary fashion. Your blog is a wonderful inspiration! Thank you for sharing your life with the rest of us!
