sunday strolls

It was freezing today by SF standards.  48 degrees!  B and I decided to take a sunday stroll so we walked 7.73 miles today.  We walked from his apartment to the Marina and back, stopping for shopping at Lululemon (B bought lounge pants that are actually long enough for his gangly manly legs), Urban Outfitters (still going with the 30% off sales!) and dinner at Umami Burger.  I’ve been dying to try this place ever since they opened up here in SF (there is one in LA too I think).  Look at the brown sugar on the sweet potato fries!!!

B and I had fun playing with new found features on my camera while we waited for food.

It was sooo cold.  I’m glad I got to put the spoils of my last shopping trip to good use.

broken self-control

My self control function is broken.  So now I have a broken shopping ban. I tried!  I really did!  I just know B will say, “try harder” and shake his head in disappointment when I see him later this evening.  I just came home from Downtown SF, where I planned on just browsing (mistake #1) and checking out the new trends (mistake #2).  I broke the ban.

fern fancy

Today’s outfit was fern crazy.  Surprised by kids again today — no comments on the fancy tights.  huh.  go figure.  I suspect it’s because I made them sing group written songs about nutrition to the tune of twinkle twinkle little star.  It’s really great when kids can laugh at themselves.  I genuinely feel like it helps kids learn how to cope with being on the spot in an embarrassing situation.  Especially when they have a built-in support structure in the form of group members who are also in the same situation.  The group support and the entire class also signing silly embarrassing songs takes away most if not all of the horrifying embarrassment.  I wish you could have all seen it. It was amazing!

My example song that I had to sing by myself to three different health classes today:

vegies vegies oh so green, hope I eat enough of you.     So much better for my health, than a package of Cheetos….vegies vegies oh so green. hope I eat enough of you.   Huzzah!!

I love these tights.  They remind me of sporophytes running up the backs of fern fronds.  or just the leaves.  I didn’t get all OCD this morning with the lines like I usually do.  Oh well.

grue: grey-blue

It’s Monday.  nothing special, except my usual accessories: my dog and a necklace in honor of her name.  It was an overcast morning, so I matched my outfit with the sky: grue.

bambi was not feeling like a model today.  she was worming around the whole time.  what a punk.

ramen love

Coming to Los Angeles means two things: hanging out with family and eating noodles.

LA to me = San Gabriel, Alhambra, Rosemead, Monterey Park.  LA, the asian part.  I’m ok with that though because this part of LA has the best noodles ever, all kinds.  The best Pho, the best fun and mein ever, the best ramen ever.  I would happily eat only noodles while I’m here in asian LA.

For lunch today we went to a ramen place in Rosemead called Shin Sen Gumi.  So yummy, even yummier than Katana-ya in SF which is my favorite in the city.

Gyoza, char siu tacos and spam misubi.  Om nom nom.

our ramen: Kris’s (sister’s) with roe and egg, Eddie’s (my cousin) with extra char siu and mine with extra char siu and spicy miso.  Holy crap it was yum.

I swear this is the first time ever I’ve been able to eat noodles without geting splashes all over my top. Kris and Eddie helped me snap photos.  Kris was sure to remind me to give her photo credit, so here it is.  Photo credit to my sister, Kris.  and Eddie.

The ultimate LA background…the parking lot of a strip mall.

There’s my new bag!!!  I was super excited to find this at Nordie’s Rack last week.  It’s the perfect size, color and it has a cross-body strap.  Not to mention it was a steal.

Family photo time.  My mom, sister, Popo and me.  Popo doesn’t remember who I am anymore. Popo needs round the clock care now and she talks to herself a lot.  But she still mentions how tall I am every time she sees me.  “Wah.  hou gouw ahhh.”  some things never change.

electric feel

“Hey Ms. Schenck, did you borrow your pants from Rainbow Bright?”

har har.  yes I did.  I’ve been having a love affair with brightly colored pants for the past 6 months. like here and here and most definitely here.
